yuin - the sapphire coast

A five-hour drive from Gadigal, Sydney, is Yuin Country, nicknamed the Sapphire Coast. There was this sort of magical charm about Yuin. Something about the land and water that surrounds it.

We landed at Merimbula Airport and began our drive to Bermagui for a wedding that same day, stopping at Tathra for a dozen oysters, all before 10 am. We drove through river crossings, bushland, fields, and some of the most beautiful tall spotted gum trees on either side of us.

After the wedding, we drove further north to Narooma for some more oysters. We didn't think the drive could get any more beautiful, but along the way, we passed through some of the most breathtaking landscapes. I'm not the best at describing places or the feelings I get from experiences, but I'll try. My partner said something that seemed quite silly at the time, but the more I think about it, the more accurate he is. He said that he couldn't believe "the sheer volume of water that surrounded the land", and honestly, it was something that neither of us had ever seen. There was just water EVERYWHERE. This bright, glimmering green/sapphire or sometimes a pale, crispy blue beautiful WATER!
